In June 2024, CONCIO became the first Japanese cosmetics brand to receive the "EWG Verified" certification from the US third-party organization "EWG."
What is EWG?
The organization is based in Washington, USA, and its official name is the Environmental Working Group .
It is the world's largest online community dedicated to raising consumer awareness of toxic substances and safety in food, daily products, cosmetics, etc., with over 31 million community supporters.
Half of Americans between the ages of 18 and 34 use EWG information, influencing safety and security-conscious lives across the U.S. and in Western countries.
First in Japan! CONCIO is EWG certified
CONCIO, which debuted in November 2023, is a cosmetic ingredient-based We take great care to consider the impact on skin, health, the environment and animals.
This time, the first products in Japan to receive EWG certification are " All in One Milk Cream " and " All in One Serum ."
Both products are enthusiastically supported by people with sensitive skin or who have trouble choosing cosmetics.
We are very pleased that the safety and reliability of CONCIO's cosmetics, which we pursue, has been recognized by a third-party organization with EWG certification.
Only 2.5% of registered cosmetics are EWG certified
EWG's cosmetics database, " EWG's Skin Deep™️, " contains cosmetics from many brands, both large and small.
There are over 100,000 items.
However, only about 2.5% of these products are EWG Verified.
Although the inspection process and criteria are all made public, the standards are very strict and it is said to be difficult to obtain certification.
Of the 2,200 EWG-certified products, there were zero Japanese cosmetics.
So far, not only American brands, but also European and Korean cosmetic brands have been obtaining EWG certification.
However, although approximately 2,200 cosmetic products had been EWG certified as of the end of May 2024, none were from Japanese brands.
We sincerely hope that CONCIO becoming Japan's first EWG-certified brand will serve as a catalyst for spreading the global standards for clean beauty and ethical cosmetics in Japan.
