Are you looking for a tinted lipstick?
I am sometimes asked for recommendations for tinted lip products.
People who are concerned about the ingredients in cosmetics or who use CONCIO tend not to wear heavy makeup, and I think they prefer lip products that are moisturizing and have a subtle color.
So, the other day I asked my Instagram followers what lipstick they were using right now!
I learned a lot, so today I would like to take a look at each ingredient from the CONCIO perspective.
Before that, please understand this
*Different people may be allergic to or irritated by different ingredients. Please understand that the assessments described in this blog are based primarily on the comprehensive assessments by EWG in the United States and may not apply to everyone.
*I have never used these products myself, so I cannot tell you about their usability. Sorry. |
Things to consider when choosing lipstick
Lips do not have sebaceous glands, so they cannot secrete sebum and are prone to dryness.
Also, since lip care products are the skin closest to the mucous membrane, you should be more careful about them than products you apply to your skin.
When choosing a lipstick, there are two things you should pay particular attention to:
1. Allergy risk
Are there any essential oils, fragrances, preservatives, etc. that pose a high risk of allergies or skin irritation? |
2. Synthetic colorants
In particular, check to see if any dyes are used, which are small particles that can penetrate the skin and cause irritation (dyes can also cause pigmentation). |
Now, let's take a look at each of the lip products that our followers are using!
The product Shea Lip Balm Plum Pink
<All ingredients>
|
A natural lip product made with naturally derived ingredients.
The mandarin orange peel oil used to add fragrance poses a high risk of allergies.
It also contains retinol palmitate, a vitamin A. This is known as a beauty ingredient that promotes cell turnover, but it is easily damaged by ultraviolet rays, and the US FDA is currently researching its photocarcinogenicity.
Lip turnover is not necessary, and I would like to avoid it if possible...

Babu Beaute Light Pink Lip

This is also a natural product that uses ingredients derived from natural sources. It has a simple formula that does not contain essential oils or unnecessary ingredients. It seems like many people can use it with confidence.
If I had to mention one thing, it would be that it uses a coloring agent derived from an insect called carmine. Once you know what kind of insect it is, it seems like people are divided on whether or not to use it.

Perricone MD No Makeup Lipstick
<All ingredients>
|
Personally, this was the first time I'd heard of this brand name, but several people have used this lip product. After doing some research, I found out that it's an American brand created by a dermatologist who studies anti-aging.
Although it contains natural ingredients, it also contains a lot of synthetic polymers. The synthetic polymers shown in orange are considered "microplastics" (polymers that may be depleted) by Dutch environmental groups (I wonder if the overall formula is the same as that of regular lipstick?).
In addition, Red 227, Yellow 4, Red 104(1), and Blue 1 are all dyes. They are highly irritating to the skin and mucous membranes, and may cause peeling of the lips.
Nivea Moist Pure Color Lip Cherry Red
<All ingredients>
|
It contains less synthetic polymers and dye colorants than Perricone MD.
And the thing that concerns me the most is "ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate." It is an ultraviolet absorbing agent that is absorbed through the skin and is feared to affect hormones. (It is called "octinoxate" overseas.)
Even if you are careful about sunscreen, it is important to be careful because it may be included in lip products that have UV protection. (By the way, the "t-butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane" listed at the end is also a UV absorber.)

Water-in-Lip, Dull Pure, Cherry Blossom Color
<All ingredients>
|
This lip product contains a lot of silicone, a type of synthetic polymer. Silicone is difficult to remove even with face wash, so using too much on the skin can clog pores and cause acne.
However, it provides great protection and causes little irritation.
In addition, this lip product contains highly protective mineral oils such as mineral oil and microcrystalline wax.
It is not recommended for people who want to avoid petroleum-derived ingredients, but it may be good for people who find that organic or natural products tend to irritate their lips.
Another good thing is that no synthetic coloring agents are used.
I met someone who said that they could only use this lip product, but perhaps they are not compatible with synthetic colorants (especially dyes).
Cle de Peau Beaute Magnificatour Levres (quasi-drug)
<All ingredients>
|
This lip product, which is a quasi-drug, also contains five types of synthetic coloring agents.
Among them, Red No. 223, Yellow No. 5, and Blue No. 1 are dyes that are highly irritating.
Also, perhaps surprisingly, menthol poses the risk of allergies.
Welcia Organic color lip that you can enjoy both color and scent
<All ingredients>
|
Organic lip product from Welcia's private label series.
The formula is simple and does not contain any synthetic colorants or synthetic polymers. Both bergamot fruit oil and rosemary leaf oil are essential oils. Although there is a risk of allergies, this may be a good lip product for those who can use essential oils without any problems.
Natural Glasse Touch On Colors (Color) <Lip & Face Color>
<All ingredients>Caprylic/capric triglyceride, hydrogenated castor oil dimer dilinoleate, polyglyceryl-2 triisostearate, candelilla wax, sorbitan sesquiisostearate, candelilla wax esters, rice bran wax, beeswax, olive fruit oil*, squalane, jojoba seed oil*, hippophae rhamnoides fruit oil*, theobroma grandiflorum seed butter*, mallow flower/leaf/stem extract*, tocopherol, water, butylene glycol, (+/-) titanium dioxide, iron oxide, carmine , hydrated silica, aluminum hydroxide* Organic ingredients |
Natural Glasse is also popular as a makeup product. It can be used as eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick. Very convenient.
Like the second product I introduced, Babu Beaute, it contains a coloring agent called carmine, which is derived from insects. However, other than that, it seems like it would be safe for many people to use. I highly recommend it.
summary
I looked at a total of eight tinted lip products. Below I've summarized my personal recommendations.
For those who don't mind carmine derived from insects:
|
For those who want to avoid carmine but are okay with essential oils:
|
For those who experience irritation from organic and natural products:
|
seems like a good idea.
However, as I wrote at the beginning, different people react differently to different ingredients.
Please be aware that the products we recommend may not suit your skin or lips.
I hope this will be of some help to you so that your mouth will be healthy and beautiful ☺️
